Boustany foundation

I am passionate about all things Chinese. This was borne out of my study of Mandarin, a fascinating pictographic and tonal language. While living in China, I became fascinated by the depth of its history and technological inventions as well as the industriousness of its people.

We do have the luxury of taking things for granted which in other parts of the world are not just a given. It was a it was a very eye-opening experience for me to work closely with NGOs concerned with bringing electricity to remote locations.

The way I was made aware of the scholarship was quite interesting and really by luck. My sister was in the Lebanon at that time and knew that I was interested in doing an MBA. She saw an advertisement for the Boustany Scholarship in the newspaper, cut it out and sent it to me by physical mail. It miraculously arrived several weeks later. I applied and that’s how it happened.

After my MBA, I was asked to do a two-month internship with the Foundation in Monaco. They were looking for a program to support in the future and I developed a project on microfinance. This was my first time working for a charity and it was a great experience to collaborate with people striving to give back to society with no strings attached.

The MBA has broadened my horizon’s far more than I ever thought it would. It's shown me I could move my career in many different directions.

I feel privileged to have had a very good education and I want to be able to build on it and do something really meaningful with it that not only brings my ideas to life but also positively impacts the lives of people around me.

I want to be known within the field such that when other astronomers see my name at the top of a publication, they immediately realize that this is good and trustworthy science they can rely on in their own research.

As far back as I can remember I always have dreamt of becoming an astronomer. To me, astronomy, is the study of the fundamental beauty of the universe.
